ROAD TO COPENHAGEN, ROAD TO SUSTAINITY

‘Ours is not a reasonable stance. It is based on our world view that the whole world is a family, and our principles of inclusive growth and measurement’.
-Manmohan Singh
The Copenhagen summit happens to be an advent in the adversity. It is an eye- opener for all of us who have who have been the cause of the exploitation of mother ‘EARTH’ and seen the Newton’s 3rd law. It is not only the responsibility of the 194 big shots of the world to introduce and follow reforms, every individual has a part to play. Let us not think us an individual, not us a country but as a family, the homosapien family.
According to a recent survey, if we use our coal reserves in the same way, within four years the coal and petroleum resources in our natural home would have perished. The temperature of the earth is increasing at the rate of 4C per year. Due to this the ice caps are all melting at a faster rate. As a consequence of this by the end of the next decade three quarters of the earth would have submerged. If this situation continues by the end of 2040 this planet would be MERCURY-2.
As the proverb goes ‘Little drops of water makes up the mighty ocean’ we can all follow certain small steps which can affect the environment at large.
• Switch off all the lights and fans wherever unnecessary.
• Never put the computer in sleep mode. It consumes more power than when it is working.
• Never overcharge mobile phones or laptops. It is a source of inorganic waste.
• Avoid littering in public places.
• Planting of more trees wherever possible.
• Use of public transport is always a better option.
• Educating people about the proper use of resources.
• Suggest methods and devices which can reduce excessive consumption of energy.

“LET US BE THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE”.LET US MAKE OUR HOME A LONGER AND BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN.

You can live in darkness. But once you move to light you can never go back to darkness.
